The number of members of Colombia's FARC rebel group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia is down more than 70 percent since 2002. The group now has approximately 7,000 members. Peace talks and negotiations have been taking place and attacks are down.

In Shanghai, China, Colombia was selected as the best eco-tourism destination at the Chinese World Travel Fair in Shanghai. Colombia beat Russia, Sri Lanka, and Seychelles. This is largely in part if Colombia's 1,900 different bird species.

Starbucks Corp has finalized it's plans to enter into various South American Markets including Colombia. Starbucks confirmed that they will be opening their first store in Bogota sometime in mid summer. They will work with their local partner, Colcafe, to offer locally farmed coffee and aggressively enter the region.
