Traveling to Colombia is easy. There are direct flights daily from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Spain, France, and South America. Arrival/Exit Tax

When you travel to Colombia, there is no arrival tax. That means that you don't have to pay anything to enter the country. However, there is an exit tax if you are leaving by plane. The cost is usually somewhere between $50-$70. Some airlines include this in the ticket fee. Check with your airline to verify how much you will have to pay upon exiting.


Travelers from the United States, most other Western Countries, and most European Countries do not need a visa when they travel to Colombia unless they are staying for more than 90 days. On arrival, the official will give tourists a 60-90 day visa at no charge. The date will be stamped on the passport upon entry. If the traveler stays over the limit, he might be fined and will not be able to leave until this fine is paid.

Individuals arriving by bus should make sure that the bus crosses the border at an "official entry point". Entering Colombia at an unauthorized location may result in fines or arrest.

Bogotá - El Dorado (BOG) is located 8 miles (12 km) east of the city. There are buses that leave every 20 minutes for the city center (30 minute ride).

Barranquilla - Ernesto Cortissoz (BAQ) is located 6 miles (7 km) from the city. Buses, taxis, and rental cars are available.

Cali - Palmaseca (CLO) is located 12 miles (18 km) from the city.

Cartagena - Crespo (CTG) is located in the city.

Medellín - Rionegro (MDE) is located 45 km from the city.

Avianca is the national airline of Colombia. Delta, Continental, American and most other large airlines travel to and from Colombia on a regular basis.

Travel Warnings
